A Daughter’s Perspective: Ashley Campbell Reflects on Her Father’s Journey
In a heartfelt interview, Ashley Campbell, Glen's 30-year-old daughter, opened up about her father's health journey and shared the challenges he faced beyond Alzheimer’s. Ashley revealed that Glen was also dealing with aphasia, which made it difficult for him to speak or understand language. Despite these struggles, Ashley finds solace in the moments they still share. “My dad is in his own world now,” she told The Mirror in June. “He knows I’m there, and I think he recognizes me as familiar, but I don’t think he recognizes me as Ashley, his daughter. Yet, when I sit and play music for him, he closes his eyes and sometimes even smiles.”

Ashley’s words paint a vivid picture of the connection they still share through music. “It takes him a while, but eventually, he starts tapping his toe. Occasionally, he even begins to hum or sing along, though it’s mostly gibberish. But there’s still a beautiful melody there—a melody that’s undeniably my dad’s voice. It’s a reminder that music is still alive in his soul, and that’s truly a blessing for all of us who love him.”

Another one of Glen’s daughters, Debby Campbell-Cloyd, shared a sweet memory from a 2014 interview with Closer Weekly. She recalled visiting her father in his assisted living facility and dancing with him to a Barbra Streisand song. “Dad started two-stepping with me, and I began to lead because I thought he wouldn’t know what to do,” she explained. “But then he stopped and said, ‘You don’t lead—I do!’ That moment reminded me that my dad was still there, in so many ways.”
