Decades Later: The Bacons Still Love to Dance

After nearly three decades of marriage, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are proving that love doesn’t have to fade with time. In a candid interview with Closer Weekly, the couple revealed how they keep the spark alive, even after all these years. It turns out, dancing plays a big role in their relationship. “We absolutely love to dance,” Kevin said during a recent SAG-AFTRA Foundation Q&A with Kyra in New York City. “If we decide to throw our own little party behind closed doors, we’ll dance all night long. Just the two of us, no one else. It’s our special thing.”

However, when it comes to dancing in public, Kevin admits it’s not as simple. “If we actually go out dancing, the DJ always puts on Footloose, and people form a circle around me, clapping in unison, expecting me to perform some sort of trick like a trained seal,” he joked. “So, I tend to avoid that situation altogether. Who needs the pressure, right?”

What Keeps a Marriage Strong for 29 Years?

When asked about the secret to their enduring marriage, Kevin had a lighthearted response. “That’s a question I refuse to answer anymore,” he quipped. “But there are a few things you don’t want to do if you want a long-lasting marriage. Like, don’t leave the toilet seat up. And whatever you do, don’t say, ‘I told you so.’ Trust me, it’s not worth it.”

But beyond the humor, Kevin and Kyra credit communication as the backbone of their relationship. “We’ve always been supportive of each other, rather than being in competition,” Kevin shared with Closer. “That’s what keeps us going. We’re a team, and we’ve always approached life that way.”
