It’s been three years since the world lost the incomparable Robin Williams, but his close friends and former co-stars still reflect on him with immense love and admiration. Pierce Brosnan, who starred alongside Robin in the iconic film Mrs. Doubtfire, shared heartfelt memories in a recent interview with Closer Weekly. “No other performer has ever made me laugh as hard as Robin did. He was a one-of-a-kind talent with a heart so big, it overflowed with kindness,” Brosnan reminisced. “Robin was truly a magical soul, and his legacy lives on in every laugh he inspired.”
From Stand-Up Comedian to TV Sensation
Robin’s journey to becoming one of Hollywood’s most beloved stars began in the mid-1970s as a stand-up comedian. By 1978, he had already made a guest appearance on the hit sitcom Happy Days, playing the quirky alien Mork from Ork. This role was so wildly popular that it quickly spun off into its own series, Mork & Mindy. Director Howard Storm fondly recalled Robin’s electrifying presence on set. “He wasn’t just a performer; he was a force of nature. People would literally leave their offices just to watch him work. It was like witnessing something divine,” Storm shared.
A Star is Born: Robin’s Time on Happy Days
Happy Days star Marion Ross described Robin’s time on the show as nothing short of extraordinary. “Robin was dazzling. He brought an energy that was unmatched. You could feel the electricity in the air whenever he was around. He wasn’t just entertaining the audience; he was inspiring everyone on set. Watching him create his character right before our eyes was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Ross said. “He had this ability to light up a room with his humor and warmth, and everyone adored him for it.”

Robin’s former co-star Anson Williams spoke about the actor’s unique genius. “Robin was a phenomenon. Watching him create his character right before my eyes was nothing short of witnessing the divine. I truly saw the light of God shining through him. He was the kindest, most generous person you could ever meet,” Williams said. “Even after filming his episode, he came back to thank everyone personally, handing out little gifts and heartfelt gratitude. That’s the kind of man Robin was—always thinking of others.”
Life in the Spotlight: Fame and Friendship
Despite the whirlwind success that followed, Robin’s transition to fame wasn’t always smooth. “It was surreal. One moment, you’re an unknown, and the next, everyone knows who you are. It’s like stepping into a completely different world,” Robin once reflected. Director Howard Storm remembered how quickly Robin became a household name. “Celebrities he admired—people like John Belushi and Robert De Niro—were suddenly drawn to him. It was a thrilling time for Robin, filled with excitement and camaraderie,” Storm shared.
As Robin’s career flourished, so did his struggles. Toward the end of his life, he battled what he believed to be Parkinson’s disease. “It must’ve been terrifying for him. Robin was all about his mind, about being in control. Watching his memory falter would’ve been devastating,” close friend Kevin Conroy explained. Tragically, Robin passed away at the age of 63 in August 2014. “He was the sweetest soul, always ensuring everyone else was happy. In his final act, he chose to leave rather than drag those he loved down with him,” comedian Johnny Steel said.
A Legacy of Laughter and Love
Robin’s impact on the world is undeniable. “When Robin left us, it felt like something monumental had been taken from the planet. He had this magical way of seeing life through humor, turning darkness into light,” Juilliard classmate Leigh McCloskey reflected. “The world is undeniably better because Robin was here. His spirit lives on in every laugh he inspired and every heart he touched,” added co-star Anson Williams.
